About the show
Undatable is a US comedy television series based on Undateable: 311 Things Guys do That Guarantee They Won't be Dating or Having Sex, a book by Ellen Rakieten and Anne Coyle and produced by Warner Bros. Television and Doozer Productions. It's been running on the NBC channel for three seasons after debuting on May 29, 2014.
Danny Burton's ( Chris D'Elia) search for a new roommate brings Justin Kearney (Brent Morin) into his life. Danny, Danny older sister Leslie (Bianca Kaljich) Justin and Justin's friends – Brett (David Flynn), a gay guy who recently came out of the closet, dorky Burski (Rick Glassman), eccentric Shelly (Ron Finches) all share their troubles in forming relationships and staying in them against the backdrop of Justin's bar. The third season of Undateable consists entirely of live episodes filmed on the East Coast, which reflects NBC's tendency towards increasing the share of live programming. This seems like a natural route to follow since many of the show's stars - Chris D'Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches and Rick Glassman - are, in fact, comedians, and this strategy has proven successful.
The critical reviews of Undateable have been mixed, and it has been accused of low-grade humor, mediocre dialogue, half-baked characters and even being generally unwatchable. However, the audience has cast its vote differently, and the show has in fact been fairly successful insofar as viewing figures go, with the third season showing a significant increase in ratings. Will these ratings be high enough for the series to be renewed? That remains to be seen.

UPDATED May 14, 2016: A third 12-episode installment of the NBC network’s romcom series Undateable concluded airing in the US back in January and there have been rumors that the sitcom would probably get axed. Only today the network officially confirmed the rumors and announced that the comedy series is getting canceled after three rounds – there will be no fourth seasons for the show. The cancellation was quite predictable considering a very significant decline in the ratings during the most recent chapter – the show has delivered an average audience of 2.7million viewers per episode, which is 42% less than in the previous year.
