About the series
The Leftovers is an American mystery, thriller and fantasy TV series that chronicles life after a rapturous event simply makes many people dissappear and leaves billions wondering what and how it happened. Created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, the critically acclaimed series is based on Perrotta’s 2011 hit novel by the same name. Season 1 of The Leftovers debuted on HBO on June 29, 2014 and the current third season premiered on April 16th, 2017 with eight new episodes.
The Leftovers story revolves around the members of the Garvey family and their friends, who have each started an unlikely relationship following a rapturous event in which Millions of people vanished without any explanations. This event is being named ‘The Departure’ and it leaves those left behind fighting depression, delusion and many other emotional problems. Starring Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Carrie Coon, Justin Theroux and Amy Brenneman, among others. After Kevin and Nora decided to settle in Miracle with their newly adopted baby girl, things changed significantly in the third season, as a mysterious machine supposedly makes it possible to travel to “where they went”. As Kevin, his dad, Nora, Laurie and Matt are travelling through Australia trying to prevent a flood for the seventh anniversary of the departure, things become even more complicated and strange for all involved. Will there be a solution? Or even more so – will there finally be answers to everyone’s questions?
Overall ratings and no season 4 for this series
Season one of the series averaged around 1.6 Million viewers per episode, which – for HBO standards – is rather dismal in numbers and even though the second season didn’t fare as well, HBO still renewed the series for a third and final installment. The show is not for the fainthearted as the plot is complicated and leaves the viewer often without any answers until the very end, but those staying with it are rewarded with an Award winning series very different of the mainstream TV-crap we often have to endure these days. The interesting fact with The Leftovers is also, that religion plays a huge part in this show, but it is never really at the forefront of anything that happens, leaving the big parts to be played by the characters themselves rather than presenting us with some institutional pre-amplified thoughts. It is a shame that The Leftovers are ending with this current third season.

The show titled 'International Assasin' was absolutely the most moving episode I have ever seen - not only the storyline and acting, but the MUSIC!
Whomever the people are (or the person) that wrote the music for this show AND the people that incorporate it into the story - are gifted beyond description.
And Justin Theroux?
He has the ability to so powerfully portray the emotion of his character that I think every viewer couldn't help but feel the same. Definitely Oscar worthy!
I have watched it several times and each time I am truly mesmerized. It will be quite a feat for Season 3 to eclipse Season 2.
OR AS GOOD AS GAT- TERRIFIC WRITING, EXCITING NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN- THIS SHOW NEEDS TO GO ON FOEVER
stick in my head from s2 are Kevin singing Homeward Bound and pushing Patti into the well. If she isn't in s3 I'll miss her. I loved Kevin's dad in it too, brilliant. Get the word out!
Plus, nudity helps, and there just isn't much in this show. :) (Except where he dies and slides out of the bathtub.)
