About the series

Heroes Reborn is an American mini-series that reconnects with the elements of its predecessor – Heroes, which first aired in 2006 and was cancelled in 2010. Executively produced by Tim Kring (Heroes’ creator) for NBC, Heroes Reborn follows the lives of ordinary people who discover that they have extraordinary abilities. Season 1 of the show premiered on NBC on September 24, 2015 and takes off about one year after the plot of the original series ended.

After the terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, the US government blames those who have special abilities for the attack and forces them into hiding. In fear of being hunted down and killed, many of them seek revenge, while some try to discover the truth behind the Odessa conspiracy. At the same time, many others are discovering extraordinary abilities, but continue living a “normal” life. Throughout the show, the new heroes will meet some of the old ones, including HIro Nakamura, Mohinder Suresh and The Haitian.

Viewer reception and chances of renewal

Considering that the original Heroes lost popularity very quickly, it is possible that the viewer will not “bite” and this series will not be continued. Though there is some hope from the producer, Tim Kring, that he can write enough material for the 13-episode order of Heroes Reborn and create the drama that the viewer wants to see on the screen, it is still unclear whether Heroes Reborn will come back for season 2. If that happens, we will see the continuation of the story next year.

Latest news

UPDATED December 22, 2015: Episode 10 of NBC’s new action and fantasy drama series was shown on November 19th and the show has left for a holiday break. The debut season of Heroes Reborn is expected to resume on NBC on January 7, 2016. The ratings have been rather average, so there is no way to predict at the moment whether the show has any chances to get renewed.

UPDATED January 15, 2016: Heroes Reborn, originally planned as a one-time event miniseries will not be transformed into any other format. NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt confirmed that Tim Kring has no plans of resuming work on the next chapter of the show. Heroes Reborn was a modest performer in the ratings department, and that's another reason why a renewal was not expected.

Just finished watching it in the UK, what was the point of bringing it back for one season, leave it on a cliff hanger and then not do a season two? It makes no sense, I loved heroes and when I found out they was bringing it back I was happy, shows like these are so much better than these [censored]y reality shows about famous people being stupid, or stupid people becoming famous. Please bring it back or at least do one last season without a cliff hanger!

I think I was the first time post on here and been reading other comments in email as they came and it seems there are quite a bit of disappointed watchers for this amazing TV show. I know we can blame NBC for not allowing another season, but at the same time, they just going by the rules they set on view counts and such to make their channel active and alive and I understand that. I'm a major fan of Heroes, but I just don't think there was enough of us out there that were big fans. :( Like in my first post. The creator should write a good novel or a movie (if that would be possible) (probably too much to do that though) I'm not a big reader but if he could write a novel to cover volume 2 and close it out good, that'll make all of us big fans feel better at least. As we all know shows can't go on forever, but to leave fans of Heroes on a tremendous cliffhanger is just too much.
