The network only recently announced that Edge of Alaska will not be renewed for Season 5, so this current fourth installment will the last and final chapter we will get to enjoy. As the installment kicks off, we get to see Jeremy Keller embarking on his most ambitious project yet, as he wants to create a fully self-sufficient homestead out in the wilderness. Neil Darish, still the businessman, wants to sell the remote town to the highest bidder to turn it into some tourist destination. Both rivals are putting every drop of sweat and blood into their new journeys and we will get to see them clash on last time with a bang. It will be sad to have to miss these two.

Basic info and cast

Edge of Alaska is an American reality and documentary television series set in the wilderness of eastern Alaska once considered the 49th state’s very own “Sin City.” Produced by Twofour America, the series originally debuted on the Discovery Channel on October 24th, 2014 for its very first season and has since been renewed for overall four seasons, with the latest installment kicking off on October 8th, 2017 with brand new episodes. It was recently announced that season 4 will also be the last and final installment of the show.

Hidden deep inside the wilderness of Alaska is the toughest town in America: McCarthy. What was once a vibrant and flourishing city built during the Gold Rush of the 1900s, today is a desolate town surrounded by wilderness and a refuge for people who don’t want to be found. With more than 100 miles between the residents and the nearest law enforcement, only 42 people still brave the extreme conditions to live in this secluded territory of the “Old West”. In what is proving to be the most important debate for the town’s future, the remaining residents must decide whether to continue adapting a frontier way of life or forcefully drag it into the modern age.

I am very disappointed this show is not continued. I just finished watching the 4th season episode, Winds of change. I am shocked to learn, thats it! Really? How disappointed I am.
I have enjoyed this show. I have been telling other people how great the Edge of Alaska show is. I just found this show and wow! I have recently been telling my friends, and extended families, they would like this show. Find it on Discovery!.
I cannot appreciate the show ending in this way. Bummer. It is a good group of people and the setting, their values! I enjoyed the show. All the way up through the last episode.
My only real standing complaints are to the producer.
That its awful surprisingly, awful wretched how abrupt cut off you ended the show.

I just think of the garbage that is left on Discovery and wonder is there any intelligent leaders employed there.
I would like the people in McCarthy to create their own YouTube channel and find sponsors. I would follow.

My husband and I discovered the Edge of Alaska just a short time ago. We love it and are so sad to see that we are almost to the end of Season 4. Please, please bring it back with updates on all of the folks that live in McCarthy. Updates about Neil selling the McCarthy properties to a private owned...who, what, when, etc. details please.

Edge of Alaska and Port Protection make me feel like I fit In. I could belong in a special Lost Place away from the Toxic Cities, Towns full of Politicians, Lawyers, Cops, -multi-cultural Hell that this country has grown into. It is Raw and Dangerous and on the edge but deeply Peaceful and uplifting. Discovery Producers may not fully understand what they got into. The handful of Characters have been moved on, Injured and the town may be more normalized. but it could be restarted and just evolve.

I'm sad to see this show end. I couldn't stand Jeremey... but then along came Don Wolcott. Oh my God, this man is the classic repugnant, egotistical, Republican F_ck. In the final episode, he could have simply asked Jeremey if he could move up the porch build just a few days and reach a workable compromise... but he had to swing his little chest and ego out... so Jeremey responded like a child when he was treated like one. It was the ONLY time I have ever rooted for Jeremey. I much prefer Neil's sense of adventure and "Can do."... But in the last episode, I was supporting Jeremy for what he did to Don... That guy Don is the ultimate prick, sunglasses and all. What a complete dud.

It is scripted. Yes, he probably is demanding but the encounter with Jeremy was scripted.

I agree Neil and Don was about money . Neil laid in bed with dogs and got fleas. Jeremy was right they would sell out and they did . Sad most the characters are not there anylonger and I hate their safe haven was taken and changed when only ones that made money is the two con artist

It was like when they did a show called Ice Cold Gold. It was great, then bam, it was gone. Same thing with Redwood Kings, and bam, it was gone. Same thing with Museum Men, bam, gone. Seems all the shows I like they cancel for some reason.

Where did you find it? Sadly, the show was cancelled last year, but reruns are still worth watching. I would love it if they brought it back with new episodes or, at least updates on the people we loved to follow in their everyday lives. I especially enjoyed Jeremy and his family.

But that show Alaska Bush People ended with a proper ending is being brought back. Hopefully another net work will pick up our show.

Living in the back end of Oklahoma we only get what someelse wants to watch... not what we want. So this show I got to see it last year. Like many shows get switched by days of the week and times, so we have no control on cable in Southwest Oklahoma.

I feel your pain brother. I feel truly cheated by discovery. They don't feel it necessary even to respond to their loyal viewers as to why the show is being canceled. I no longer follow their shows since they obviously do not value me or the rest of you as loyal watchers!

Please renew this show. It’s the best series of this type on TV and has so much potential to continue the story line. Great cast and so unscripted like most of these types of shows. Poor business decision Discovery. Very poor!

I'm getting tired of spending time watching a show for multiple seasons to have it end without any actual ending. It's like reading a book and finding the last chapter is missing!

Unfortunately all this is sponsor driven. Also I read another article saying the show was only getting a 1.9 million viewers per show. They don't take a few things in account like in my case I just discovered the show in the 3rd season, a lot of people like me having a firestick like to wait and watch 3-4 episodes in one evening. They don't see that. Then you have TV providers such as HBO, Netflix and others who now are making there own series and movies that has attracted millions of viewers not to mention with the live streaming and smart TV's that people have gone to with thousands of choices of channels not on normal cable and satellite with are not considered in the rating system. Also in the article I read they said there's currently 64 different shows About Alaska being show on those other network around the world, Some being cancelled shows like this one. I hope they bring it back or another network picks it up. I agree with all the earlier comments. This is the best show.

I look forward to this show every time it’s on and wish it wasn’t just seasonal. Now it’s not going to be on at all and that saddens me and my friends and family that also enjoyed it. ?

I truly believe if the powers that be at Discovery Channel Value their loyal viewers; they could at least give us an explanation as to Why this awesome show is being canceled?! This at last is a show the entire family can view. It's wholesome and visually captivating and honest. I feel truly let down and unappreciated as a loyal viewer of the Discovery Cnannel

Not honest, all these Alaskan reality shows are scripted and basically 1. The writers don’t know where to go from here and 2. The free millions paid to production companies is drying up!

Why can’t they just found it. They’re shot [censored]ing Kardashian [censored] for 20 seasons and show this is the actually teaching people youngster the real live and people enjoy it. it don’t need script. just have cameras follow follow the people. Just film their daily life. Make a show about nothing. I watch it like you’v never seen someone watching tv.

I'm very disappointed in The Discovery Channel for removing The Edge of Alaska! Seems like this happens to often with good shows! I like most of The Alaskan Show's! Love Alaska The Last Frontier! I'm also disappointed how it ended! Left watcher's hanging! What happens? Bad directing! I am becoming less of a Discovery Channel Fan! Net O are improving their shows!

This shows is much better than watching Alaska Frontier or the Brown family. I cannot believe it’s cancelled.

Beats watching Todd Hoffman and that foul mouthed Viking.

Oh man when Jeremy tore that porch away from the building structure I let out a howl of pleasure!!! How dare they threaten him and give him an ultimatum when they were the ones changing the terms of the original contract. Neil is a lapdog for the other jerk and they are both just money hungry bullies! Thank u Jeremy for standing your ground and showing those bullies they could not bully you! Bravo!! I want to buy a ticket just to go shake his hand. I still can't believe they are cancelling such a high quality show?! It makes absolutely no sense to me? There are still so many directions they can go in. The rental cabins in themselves provide a great new story line. I would love to go spend time there.

They could have at least done season 4 in style instead of ending it at episode 8 out of the blue, leaving it half finished.
Pretty sad for Discovery's normally decent reputation, this was a bad decision.
They should reconsider, if they had a brain they would. ?

I agree with you. And I feel cheated. I feel bad for the loyal viewers who have supported the show from the beginning. There were times when we had no idea whether or not the show was coming back. We made it our business to find schedule dates of future episodes. And now they are abandoning us without a reason. So much for loyalty. I guess it doesn't exist anymore.
