Summary and plot

Rusted Development is an American reality series that documents the effort of former WWE wrestler, Chuck Palumbo and his partner Rick Dore as they hunt for classic cars. A co-production between Discovery Studios and New Entertainment Research and Design (NERD), the show premiered on March 17, 2014 on the Discovery Channel.

Rusted Development, also known as Lords of the Car Hoards, follows custom car gurus Rick Dore and WWE superstar Chuck Palumbo’s efforts to locate and rebuild legendary cars of extreme hoarders. In season 2, the experts are faced with daunting challenges of rebuilding a 1937 Zephyr, a 1957 Thunderbird belonging to a Vietnam war veteran and a special project to restore Palumbo’s father’s 1965 Corvette. In addition to rebuilding cars, Dore and Palumbo also help car hoarders rid themselves of unnecessary junk by selling off parts of other cars to help pay for the restoration of their favorite vehicles.

The show’s format starts with a tip leading to a collection of cars that have a potentially high value but are in need of some serious tender-love-and-care. Following a meeting with the owner, a car is selected for restoration and a deal is made. While some vehicles are sold as whole collectibles to other restorers or interested mechanics, other parts are recycled for scrap metal in order to raise the money necessary for a rebuild. Each episodes shows the basic design process for he car, followed by a disassembly, modification and eventual reassembly which literally gives the car a new lease on life.

This was such a great show - a really dumb decision to cancel this show - it was one of the best car shows ever made - the skill level was on a different level - as a panel beater and mechanic myself - I have never seen a car show with more talent and technical skill level than the two guys on this show displayed. thumbs down for the idiot who cancelled this show.

This is a show that we’ve been waiting too long for the next season! Chuck draws all off the wrestling fans and more! Rick brings in custom car fans and more! Together with the concept is great personality’s with a unique idea. Come on guys we seriously need more seasons! Let me not forget, the guys that they’ve put together to do the work are great at what they do and are very likable too! ❤

I found this little gem of a show buried deep in the bowels of my paytv on demand section. I was hooked after the first episode, and binged on the whole 2 seasons in less than a week.

I can’t believe this show hasn’t been renewed! Get it together Discovery!

This show is much better than most of the car shows on rotation on paytv. The guys are genuine, not too much manufactured drama or bs, solidly entertaining. Addictive.

-- The two stars are really more like reality than most - I think this show is very entertaining and at face value -- this is a good show, and the cars they do are nice , and they seem like they are real car guys I hate the dead line bit -- the money in these restorations seem real to the eye if your paying your workers peanuts -- I think these cars would be closer to 1/2 more than they say -- the number of hours and parts alone would be -more realistic - maybe not as entertaining ? Any car restoration is another way to spend more money than you estimate and they live a life of their own

While I put up with all of the usual car show "shenanigans" just to see what creative minds put together, I can't believe the utter lack of effort, creativity and talent on the builds on rusted development. Establishing stupid goals at the end of the build that should have been planned earlier, making those stupid goals seem like they are overwhelming expensive tasks but necessary in doing their job right, I can't believe you get away with this. I feel sorry for the owners of the vehicles that you "rescue", you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Seriously, bring this back and properly advertise it. Their quality of builds are some of the best seen on tv, and their personalities are magnetic and make you want to keep watching.

Thanks for letting me express my opinion--I loved both "Lords of the Car Hoards," then, "Rusted Development.". These guys are extremely talented, the cars so awesome, their background music, everything about their shows ... I enjoyed watching. Please, do another season!

One of my favorite shows on TV.
It's interesting how these two talented guys can restore cars that most people would say are ready for the s[censored] heap and beyond.
Would love to see it return for a season 3.

Why isn't this show been renewed? It has the perfect mixure of class and comedy. Just another good car show taken away in the name of network big wigs who don't care about its audience.
