Tyler Perry has expanded his creative collaboration with Netflix, now incorporating a multi-year first-look series deal into the ongoing partnership. The initial series to emerge from this agreement is "Beauty in Black," a 16-episode, hour-long drama personally written, directed, and produced by Perry.
"Beauty in Black" delves into the lives of two women, Kimmie and Mallory, each navigating distinct paths. While Kimmie grapples with the challenges of making a living after being estranged by her mother, Mallory is thriving with a successful business. Their stories become intricately intertwined, creating a narrative that explores their contrasting worlds.
Angi Bones and Tony Strickland, in addition to Tyler Perry, will serve as producers for Tyler Perry Studios.
This new collaboration stems from the creative partnership established between Perry and Netflix in 2023, focusing on feature films under a multi-year first-look deal. Perry's upcoming Netflix films include "Six Triple Eight," featuring a star-studded cast led by Kerry Washington, and "Mea Culpa," starring Kelly Rowland.
