The Escape Renewed for Season 1 by Netflix

A television drama chronicling the story of Princess Latifa of Dubai, who embarked on a daring escape from her life in the Emirates only to be forcibly repatriated, is currently in development by Lindsay Shapero, known for her work on Netflix's Winter Palace. The project, titled The Escape, is being crafted by Finland's Yellow Film & TV and centers around Latifa's relationship with her friend Tiina Jauhianen, a Finnish national. In 2018, Latifa undertook a bold escape involving concealment in a car's tire compartment and a jet-ski journey across the Gulf of Oman. However, she was forcefully returned to Dubai through a joint Indian-Emirati operation. Subsequently, both Latifa and Jauhianen were abducted, imprisoned, and interrogated. Jauhianen was eventually deported from the UAE, while Latifa remained a captive in her homeland. After an extensive international campaign, Latifa was discovered outside of Dubai several years later. A UN High Commissioner for Human Rights confirmed her well-being and expressed her desire for privacy.
