Guiding this exciting adaptation is supervising director Takashi Miike, celebrated for his innovative approach to cinematic swordplay in acclaimed works like "13 Assassins" and "Blade of the Immortal." Collaborating with director Shinya Sugai, known for his contributions to CG anime with "Dragon's Dogma," and animation studio Sublimation, they are poised to reshape the anime landscape with their distinctive vision of Onimusha.
At the heart of this adaptation lies the enigmatic figure of Miyamoto Musashi, inspired by the late Japanese screen icon Toshiro Mifune. Set against the backdrop of the early Edo Period, a time when Japan was on the cusp of peace and warfare receded into history, an aging Musashi embarks on a covert mission. Armed with the mythical "Oni Gauntlet," Musashi embarks on an epic odyssey to confront lurking demons, with the haunting main theme song, "THE LONELIEST," by Måneskin adding depth and emotion to the enthralling saga.
