Days before the highly anticipated release of the Warner Bros. Pictures film Barbie, HGTV is set to unveil an extraordinary life-size renovation of the iconic Mattel toy, Barbie Dreamhouse. Premiering on July 16, the four-part competition series, Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge, will feature eight teams of HGTV superstars and one renowned Food Network chef as they transform a Southern California home into a real-life Barbie Dreamhouse. Hosted by supermodel and entrepreneur Ashley Graham, the series promises to be a whimsical and larger-than-life event, with surprise celebrity guest appearances and captivating Barbie-inspired designs throughout the home.
Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge will not only showcase the creativity and expertise of the participating teams but will also include renowned judges such as designer Jonathan Adler and HGTV's Tiffany Brooks. Each episode will feature nostalgia-inducing Barbie content, as the teams incorporate iconic Dreamhouse elements into their designs. From a light-up dance floor to a toyetic hat carousel, the transformations will be nothing short of dazzling. The winning design team will have a donation made in their name to Save the Children, adding a charitable element to the competition.
In the 90-minute premiere, Ashley Graham and the competitors will visit Mattel headquarters for an inspiring trip and an astonishing surprise. The competition will kick off with a showdown between real estate and design power couple Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson, and expert builder Jasmine Roth and Food Network's Antonia Lofaso. Each team will be tasked with creating stunning spaces that reflect different eras of Barbie's history, with neon 1990s and 1960s-inspired designs taking center stage. The premiere episode will also feature a surprise appearance by Kitty Black Perkins, the designer of the first Black Barbie, adding an extra touch of excitement to the competition.
