"Wonka" is a captivating film that delves into the fascinating origins of Willy Wonka, the beloved character from Roald Dahl's iconic children's book, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Recognized as one of the best-selling children's books of all time, this enchanting story follows the extraordinary journey of the world's greatest inventor, magician, and chocolate-maker as he evolves into the Willy Wonka we know and adore today.

Helmed by Paul King, the talented writer/director behind the acclaimed "Paddington" films, and produced by David Heyman, known for his work on "Harry Potter," "Gravity," "Fantastic Beasts," and "Paddington," alongside Alexandra Derbyshire (the "Paddington" films, "Jurassic World: Dominion") and Luke Kelly ("Roald Dahl's The Witches"), "Wonka" promises an irresistible blend of magic, music, chaos, and heartfelt humor. Taking on the titular role is the talented Timothée Chalamet, portraying a young Willy Wonka brimming with boundless ideas and a determination to transform the world, one delectable bite at a time. This mesmerizing and imaginative cinematic spectacle underscores the notion that dreams are the catalyst for life's greatest wonders, and with a chance encounter with Willy Wonka, anything becomes possible.

Joining Chalamet in this star-studded cast are Calah Lane ("The Day Shall Come"), Emmy and Peabody Award winner Keegan-Michael Key ("The Prom," "Schmigadoon"), Paterson Joseph ("Vigil," "Noughts + Crosses"), Matt Lucas ("Paddington," "Little Britain"), Mathew Baynton ("The Wrong Mans," "Ghosts"), Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins ("The Shape of Water," the "Paddington" films, "Spencer"), Rowan Atkinson (the "Johnny English" and "Mr. Bean" films, "Love Actually"), Jim Carter ("Downton Abbey"), and Oscar winner Olivia Colman ("The Favourite"). The film also features Natasha Rothwell ("White Lotus," "Insecure"), Rich Fulcher ("Marriage Story," "Disenchantment"), Rakhee Thakrar ("Sex Education," "Four Weddings and a Funeral"), Tom Davis ("Paddington 2," "King Gary"), and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith ("Paddington 2," "Zack Snyder's Justice League," "Mary Poppins Returns").

The screenplay, penned by Simon Farnaby ("Paddington 2") and Paul King, is based on a story by King, inspired by Roald Dahl's beloved characters. Michael Siegel, Cate Adams, Rosie Alison, and Tim Wellspring serve as executive producers, while the behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung ("Last Night in Soho," "Ah-ga-ssi"), Oscar-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley ("Tenet," "Dunkirk"), editor Mark Everson (the "Paddington" films), Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (the "Paddington" films, "Topsy-Turvy"), and composer Joby Talbot (the "Sing" films). Adding to the film's allure, Neil Hannon of the band The Divine Comedy is crafting original songs.

Presented by Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, and produced by Heyday Films, "Wonka" is a delectable creation from the visionary mind of Paul King. The film is set to enchant audiences as it releases in theaters and IMAX internationally starting December 2023, followed by its North American release on December 15, 2023. Warner Bros. Pictures will handle worldwide distribution.
