Hosted by Travis Brorsen, the much needed American reality television show My Big Fat Pet Makeover premiered on the network Animal Planet on September 30th, 2017 for its very first season. The show hails from the production company Castleview Productions and is executive produced by Jessica Reynolds and Ted Barnhill.
This documentary reality series tackles the incredibly high obesity rate in American pets – which is a whopping 50% compared to the overweight humans coming in at 38%. The pets featured on this show are so much beyond their recommended weight that it is literally painful for real animal lovers to watch these extremely overweight dogs, cats and even exotic animals hobble around a room – if they still can! – carrying sometimes three times the normal weight around with them. Travis Brorsen takes these clinically obese pets and puts them through a four-month weight loss program, incorporating the families that made them this way to change the unhealthy lifestyle once and for all.
