General information and cast
The reality documentary series My Super Sweet 16 is not a new show, as it actually ran on the MTV Network over ten years ago, when the very first episode debuted on January 18th, 2005 and was broadcast until in June 2008. Without a real seasonal frame, only one episode then followed in 2010, another one in 2011 and finally one more in 2015. None of the overall 10 seasons so far have a steady flow of episodes. On May 14th, 2017 MTV brought this very special birthday reality series back with season number 10. My Super Sweet 16 is being produced by MTV Networks and executive produced by Lauren Lazin, Danielle Medina, Carlos King and Todd Tucker.
The title of the reality documentary My Super Sweet 16 does exactly what it says on the tin – portraying privileged 15 year olds planning their all-important 16th birthday. The show features mainly girls with the odd guy thrown in the mix, but foremost we get to see obsessed girls going all out to throw the biggest, badest, most memorable and crazy birthday party of all time. And when “Daddy and Mommy” are paying for it all – in these special cases there are no limits with totally over-the-top themes like Alice in Wonderland and Masquerade, people completely covered in gold carrying the birthday girl high up on their shoulders like Queen Cleopatra and Ferraris being handed out like candy on a stick. The show also includes numerous versions that go beyond the sweet sixteen birthdays, such as debutante balls and Quinceaneras.
