About the series
Martin Clunes: Islands of Australia, also known as Islands of Oz, is a three-part documentary television series that ran between October 7 and October 21, 2016 on Seven Network. Islands of Australia is produced by Buffalo Pictures and Prospero Productions, written by John Mc Court and executive produced by Julia Redwood, Ed Punchard, Bill Jones and Philippa Braithwaite. It is based on Islands of Britain, a UK documentary production that also hails from Buffalo Pictures and is presented by acclaimed actor and comic Martin Clunes.
The one-hour episodes take the viewers on a unique journey to several out of over 8,000 islands that surround Australia, namely, Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island, Restoration Island, the Murion Islands, Tiwi Islands, Abrolhos Islands, Philip Island and Maria Island. Clunes explores all possible aspects – marine life, unusual species, the history behind them, and, of course, the people who inhabit these isolated places, familiarizing us with these diverse communities.
