The Frankenstein Chronicles is an original British period criminal drama and mystery series that originally premiered on ITV Encore on November 11th, 2015 with six episodes and has since been renewed for a second season, which debuted on November 1, 2017 with six brand new episodes. The show was also picked up by the American network A&E and the first season kicked off in 2016. The series is inspired by Mary Shelley's classic novel and was created and developed by Benjamin Ross and Barry Langford. It is produced by Rainmark Films and executive produced by Frank Doelger, Patrick Irwin, Tracey Scoffield, David Tanner, Justin Thomson and the incredible Sean Bean, who is also the lead cast in this period crime mystery.
The atmospheric and gory drama that re-imagines the well-known plot is set in foggy 19th century London. Brooding John Marlott (Sean Bean) is the inspector with his own psychological battle to fight, as he's haunted by personal tragedy. He investigates a series of disturbing crimes that seem like they can be traced back to a single person – the diabolical scientist who's intent on reanimating the dead. William Blake (Steven Berkhoff) and Mary Shelley (Anna Maxwell Martin) make guest appearances.
