Universal Studio Pictures has agreed to adapt the book 'The Cruel Prince' by Holly Black into a movie with producer Michael De Luca.
'"The Cruel Prince" is a young adult fantasy novel by Holly Black, published in 2018. The book is the first in the "Folk of the Air" trilogy and follows the story of Jude Duarte, a human girl who is taken to live in the High Court of Faerie after her parents are murdered by a faerie general.
Jude struggles to fit in among the faeries who look down on humans and despise her for her mortality. She also has to deal with the bullying and cruelty of Prince Cardan, the youngest son of the High King.
